The data center build-out underpinning the rise of artificial intelligence has raised concerns about surging power demand in much of the world. But in China, the energy challenge is largely viewed as “solved,” according to experts, thanks to its broader build-out of new power capacity and a series of policy directives focused on AI’s energy needs. As renewable energy capacity grows at an unprecedented pace, Beijing has mandated that most new data centers be powered by renewables.
